Our activity, supported by TÜBİTAK and Truba, will be carried out with the same trainers who are giving the Evolutionary Genomics Winter School for years staff. School will have 3 stages as lectures, applications and projects on the topics of genomics (population genomics, phylogenomics, metagenomics, ancient DNA).
Application deadline: April 23, 2021

Venur: Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Canakkale
The workshop, which we organized for the second time this year, was held at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University with the participation of 22 people from 10 different universities with İsmail Bekar, Nurbahar Usta and Bilgecan Şen as trainers. The workshop content was created as basic introduction to R programming, homogeneous and heterogeneous data structures, “loop” and “if” statements, and data visualization. After a short short lecture, we proceeded with the exercises so that the participants had the opportunity to practice directly. We got very good feedbacks in our survey after the workshop. Many thanks to EkoEvo for its financial and moral support, to Çanakkale 18 Mart University for the organization and to Hilal Özkılınç and her group Raşit, Ece, Gözde, Kübra and Taylan for welcoming us with a very sweet hospitality.
The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Society of Turkey and evolutionary biologists from Greece are proud to announce the 1st Aegean Seminars for Computational Ecology and Evolution to be held at the Izmir Institute of Technology between 16 – 22 September 2018.

Another Evolutionary Genomics Winter School has been successfully completed thanks to the our organizators and trainers. Many thanks to Tuğçe, Sibel, İsmail, Emrah, Evren, Ozan, Can, Kürşat, Reyhan, Çisel, Eren Ada and Eren Yüncü who have worked for this school for years! We agree with their words: “Organized for the first time online and even though more than half of our school is practicals and project everything went super smooth thanks to the miracle team!” Also, thanks to Sibel and Emrah, we received TÜBİTAK support again and thus the winter school online infrastructure was financed.
The last message of the team is for the participants: “Finally, despite the pandemic, curfew and other troubles, not only did they keep up with an impossible pace like 9 in the morning and at the earliest 7 in the evening, they were always on camera, listening to us with full attention, asking their questions without delay and all 30 people completed projects and practicals. We cannot be more proud of our students who have completed, made great presentations, and made the longest post-presentation discussions in the history of the school. ”

We organized the Fifth Evolutionary Genomics Winter School in Ege University between January 13-17 with the support of TÜBİTAK thanks to the efforts of the organizing committe Tugce Bilgin Sonay, Sibel Kucukyildirim, Ismail Saglam, and Evren Koban. 25 students from 12 different cities joined the school. Together with the organizing committee Emrah Kirdok, Tunca Dogan, and Mehmet Somel supported us as trainers in their specific areas, also without our beloved assistants Yasin Kaya, Kursat Sahin, Can Elverici, and Reyhan Yaka this winter school wouldn’t be the same. We have given theoretical and practical lessons on genomic, transkiptomic, new generation sequencing, phylogenomic, population genomics, metagenomics, ancient DNA and machine learning, and we have helped students do specialized projects on these subjects. We thank all our trainers, assistants and Eko-Evo society for their support.
We organized the Fourth Evolutionary Genomics Winter School in Ege University between 4-8 February with the support of TÜBİTAK 2237A fund. 28 students from 16 different universities joined the school. Evren Koban, Ismail Saglam, Sibel Kucukyildirim, and Tugce Bilgin were the organizers and main teachers. With the addition of Kahraman Ipekdal, Ozan Bozdag and Elif Salur to teachers team, we could cover the following topics: linux/unix, R, genomics, transcriptomics, filogenomics, machine learning, and experimental evolution during 16 hours theoretical and 11 hours practical classes. Also, students worked projects as groups and presented their findings. As school social activity, we visited The Natural History Museum of Ege University, did yoga and went out. We thank all our teachers, assistants and Eko-Evo society for their support.
